Odsal Stadium once held the world record for attendance at a rugby football match: 102,569 for a Challenge Cup replay between Warrington and Halifax, in May 1954. This record was broken in March 1999, when 104,583 watched the first sporting event at the Sydney Olympic Stadium – a 'double header' (two matches).
